Quality Standards and Support Services
National Standards (Women's Aid Federation of England)
At Her Safe Network, we are committed to meeting the National Quality Standards for domestic violence services. Our refuge facilities are regularly inspected to ensure they provide a safe and accessible environment. We proudly promote women-led services while offering tailored support for male survivors. As we work toward formal accreditation, we continually conduct self-assessments to enhance the quality of our services.
Safety, Security, and Dignity
The safety and dignity of our clients are our top priorities at Her Safe Network. We perform thorough risk assessments to create personalized safety plans and provide crisis support, including daily well-being visits. Our services connect clients with NHS talking therapy and support for mental health and substance misuse. We maintain women-only spaces and ensure that male survivors receive separate services, all while implementing strict security measures to protect everyone involved.
Rights and Access
At Her Safe Network, we believe every woman deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. We inform our clients of their legal rights and connect them with necessary legal aid. Our team addresses barriers to safety and independence, providing tailored ongoing support. Confidentiality is essential; we share information only with informed consent. Our services are inclusive, meeting the specific needs of protected groups and ensuring accessibility for all, including Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) survivors, as well as lesbian, bisexual, and transgender women.
Physical and Emotional Health
We prioritize the physical and emotional well-being of our clients at Her Safe Network. We assist clients in accessing medical care and registering with GPs, ensuring they receive the support they need. Our team helps clients disclose experiences of sexual violence, referring them to accredited services. While we successfully provide mental health and substance misuse support, we aim to improve access to sexual health and pregnancy advice. We are also focused on developing individual counseling and group work opportunities to enhance resilience.
Stability, Resilience, and Autonomy
At Her Safe Network, we believe stability and autonomy are crucial for our clients’ success. We conduct comprehensive assessments to tailor our support, empowering clients to make their own decisions. We encourage participation in educational opportunities and community life, helping clients build supportive networks. Our assistance in securing stable accommodation and maintaining tenancies aims to provide a foundation for a sustainable future.
Leadership and Prevention
Leadership and proactive strategies are key at Her Safe Network. We are dedicated to developing local Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) strategies and enhancing education on consent and healthy relationships. Our advocacy focuses on improving responses for women survivors and their children, ensuring their needs are at the forefront of our efforts.
Governance and Accountability
At Her Safe Network, we promote a gendered understanding of domestic violence in all our materials. Our organization is women-led, with strong representation in governance roles. We are committed to outcomes-focused service provision and have formed partnerships with other VAWG service providers. We ensure that our trustees understand VAWG dynamics and involve service users in planning and evaluating our services, ensuring their voices are integral to our governance.
